It has been brought to my attention over the past few days that apparently it is difficult to find a camel coat on New Year's Day. Case in point: my boyfriend has known I've wanted a well-made camel coat for about a year now, so he surprised me with one for Christmas! The catch was he wanted to shop for it with me, to make sure it was one I was crazy about. Adorable, right? I thought so too!
We went to Short Pump Town Center (one of the go-to malls in Richmond, VA) to begin the search on Sunday (01/01/2017). We were in Richmond for New Year's Eve anyway, so it was convenient. Now, I don't know if it is because winter had already started, or if the stores were low on stock due to the holidays, but we found nothing. Well, there was one at Nordstrom (too plain) and one at Dillard's (too big), but that was about it.
We set out for our second shopping day (01/02/2017) and went to the Williamsburg Premium Outlets. I'm talking Ann Taylor, Burberry, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Guess, Wilson Leather,...you name it! Nothing. Not a single one.
We returned home to Norfolk the same day and I was determined to find something I liked online. Within 15 minutes I found my dream coat from Topshop (no surprise here) for a reasonable price AND they had my size. Not to mention, Topshop offers free returns and free shipping. So there you have it, friends. The moral of the story is: when you want something specific on New Year's Day, shop online first. Here is the coat I ended up getting:
